Wooden Classic Debuts 'Big Assist Week'
The New Community Outreach Program Pairs Each Participating School With A Local Non-Profit To Spread Coach Wooden’s Message of Giving

You can't live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you.”

---  John Wooden

Anaheim, CA (December 4, 2009) – The John R. Wooden Classic has announced today the event’s inaugural “Big Assist Week.” The distinctive new community outreach program will take place annually in conjunction with the college basketball doubleheader at Honda Center that bears the legendary coach’s name.

Big Assist Week teams participating schools and their local alumni chapter with a Southern California non-profit organization to create a unique experience for those in need within the local community. By taking part in Big Assist Week, each university seeks to further promote Coach Wooden’s message of giving to others in preparation for the Saturday’s tipoff of hard court action.
